چکیده

The interpretation of the surface charge pattern spacers in gas-insulated transmission lines (GIL) is an interesting and important research topic, which requires a comprehensive understanding behaviors at physical interfaces. Here, we report charging phenomenon presence metal particles inside direct current (DC) GIL. spherical particle on spacer appears as dotted discontinuously distributed spots are due to injection from induced gas ionization over surface. Concentrically bipolar patterns seen build up, trapping charges end tip acicular particle. lateral type obeys law dielectric barrier discharge needle-plate electrode intense DC electric field, may bring significant influence safety spacer. study this letter provides evidence demonstrating particles, serves basis design

Displacement current phenomena in the magnetically insulated transmission lines of the refurbished Z accelerator

Experimental data is presented that illustrates important displacement current phenomena in the magnetically insulated transmission lines (MITLs) of the refurbished Z accelerator [D. V. Rose et al., Phys. Rev. ST Accel. Beams 13, 010402 (2010)]. Specifically, we show how displacement current in the MITLs causes significant differences between the accelerator current measured at the vacuuminsula...

Detection in Spacer of Gas-Insulated Switchgears

With the increasing demand for precise condition monitoring and diagnosis of 11 gas-insulated switchgears (GIS), it has become a challenge to improve the detection sensitivity of 12 partial discharge (PD) induced in the GIS spacer. This paper deals with the elimination of the 13 capacitive component from the phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) signal generated in GIS 14 spacer based on the ...

Role of Ion Sources for Spacer Charging in SF6 Gas Insulated HVDC Systems

Stationary DC electric fields are determined by the resistivity distribution of the insulation materials. In the presence of interfaces between different insulation materials, charge accumulation at these boundary layers may have a significant influence on the electric field distribution and with it on the breakdown strength of the arrangement. In many previous works, surface charging of model ...

Tailoring of electron flow current in magnetically insulated transmission lines

It is desirable to optimize (minimizing both the inductance and electron flow) the magnetically insulated vacuum sections of low impedance pulsed-power drivers. The goal of low inductance is understandable from basic efficiency arguments. The goal of low electron flow results from two observations: (1) flowing electrons generally do not deliver energy to (or even reach) most loads, and thus con...

Thermal Analysis in Gas Insulated Transmission Lines Using an Improved Finite-Element Model

In this paper, an improved finite element (FE) model is proposed to investigate the temperature distribution in gas insulated transmission lines (GILs). The solution of joule losses in eddy current field analysis is indirectly coupled into fluid and thermal fields. As is different from the traditional methods, the surrounding air of the GIL is involved in the model to avoid constant convective ...
